Dometic Air Conditioner: “E6”
warning RV air conditioner error codes
What it means
The CCC2 thermostat reads an open circuit on the optional humidity sensor (only fitted on select models). Cooling and dehumidify modes are disabled for the affected zone, but heat pump, furnace, electric heat strip, and fan keep running.
Most likely causes
- Open or disconnected humidity sensor wiring on a model equipped with that sensor most likely
- Failed humidity sensor element common
- Corroded or loose sensor connector at the power module board less common
Safe checks you can do yourself
- Confirm your unit actually has the optional humidity sensor — many CCC2 installs do not, and a stray E6 can indicate a wiring issue rather than a real sensor.
- Visually inspect the humidity sensor connector at the air conditioner power module for looseness or corrosion (power off first).
- Note whether cooling still works in other zones, which helps localize the fault to one unit.
How to reset / clear E6
- Turn the system off at the thermostat.
- Remove 120 VAC shore/generator power and 12V DC power for at least 5 minutes to clear the controller.
- Restore power and observe whether E6 returns.
When to call a technician
Call an RV HVAC technician if the humidity sensor and its wiring check out but E6 persists, since accessing the rooftop power module and sensor harness involves line voltage.
