Dometic Air Conditioner: “P1”
warning RV air conditioner error codes
What it means
Under-voltage protection. The unit has detected the incoming supply voltage is too low to safely run the inverter compressor and has stopped to avoid damage.
Most likely causes
- Low or sagging campsite/shore power voltage (below roughly 200V on 230V systems) most likely
- Long or undersized extension cord / cord reel not fully unwound causing voltage drop common
- Overloaded campsite pedestal shared with other high-draw appliances common
Safe checks you can do yourself
- Measure the supply voltage at the pedestal or inlet and confirm it is within the unit's rated range
- Fully unwind any cord reel and use the shortest, heaviest-gauge cord available
- Reduce other electrical loads in the RV and retry
How to reset / clear P1
- Correct the voltage/supply problem first
- Switch the AC off at the thermostat, then back on once a stable supply is confirmed
When to call a technician
If P1 persists even with confirmed good, stable supply voltage at the inlet, contact an authorized Dometic service agent — the voltage-sensing circuit may be at fault.

Dometic FreshJet Series 4 (FJX) · Dometic FreshJet Series 7 (FJX) · FreshJet inverter rooftop units
