What it means
Low cranking speed fault. During start the engine cranked slower than about 180 rpm for more than two seconds — usually a weak battery, bad connections, or thick cold oil.
Most likely causes
- Weak or discharged starting battery most likely
- Loose or corroded battery/ground cable connections at the battery or genset common
- Engine oil too thick for the ambient temperature (high viscosity slows cranking) less common
Safe checks you can do yourself
- Clean and tighten the positive (+) and negative (-) battery cable connections at both the battery and the genset.
- Recharge or replace the battery per its manufacturer's recommendations.
- In cold weather, make sure the engine oil viscosity is correct for the temperature; switch to the recommended grade if too heavy.
How to reset / clear Fault 32
- Fix the battery/connection/oil issue, then restart from the control switch.
When to call a technician
If a known-good, fully charged battery with clean connections and correct oil still cranks too slowly — the starter or wiring may need service.

Two different definitions behind one number. Air-cooled KY and KYD sets: cranking speed below 180 rpm for more than two seconds. Quiet Diesel sets: the controller could not detect cranking speed at all — no quadrature zero crossings — for twelve seconds, which can also mean the starter never turned the engine rather than that it turned too slowly.
