- Check the negative return as carefully as the positive. Owners test the positive terminal, find 12 V, and stop; a corroded ground or a shared negative bar produces exactly the same drop.
- If it only cuts out while driving or charging, look at the over-voltage side instead: measure the rail with the alternator, DC-DC charger or mains charger running.
