Victron Energy Power Converter: “Error 67”
warning RV power converter problems
What it means
The charger is set to be controlled by a battery BMS but is no longer receiving any BMS messages. To protect the battery it stops charging by dropping its output to the battery base voltage (about 12 V). This shows up roughly 3 minutes after the BMS communication is lost.
Most likely causes
- Lost or broken communication cable between the BMS and the charger (VE.Direct / BMS-Can / wired link) most likely
- BMS powered down, in sleep, or itself in a fault/disconnect state common
- Charger still configured for external BMS control after the BMS was removed or replaced common
- Loose connector or corroded pins on the communication port less common
Safe checks you can do yourself
- Confirm the BMS is powered on and reporting normally in VictronConnect / on the GX device.
- Inspect and reseat the communication cable at both ends; look for bent pins or corrosion.
- Swap in a known-good communication cable if you have one.
- If you intentionally removed the BMS, open VictronConnect and turn off BMS-controlled charging in the charger settings.
How to reset / clear Error 67
- Restore the BMS communication link or correct the charger setting.
- The charger normally resumes on its own once valid BMS messages return; if not, cycle input power off, wait, then back on.
When to call a technician
If communication and settings are correct but the error keeps returning, or if the BMS itself reports faults, contact your installer or Victron dealer.
