Safe checks you can do yourself

The service manual gives exactly this test for the paired reading of lights 3 and 4, and it is the quickest way to split a dead fan from a dead feed: voltage present but no rotation means the fan; no voltage means the board or the harness.
- Pull the refrigerator fuse and turn the fan by hand — it should spin freely. Ice around the freezer fan is a common cause and is easy to miss because it melts before the fridge is opened for inspection.
- Check the fan assembly connector at the board (the fan and door switch share the CN1 area of the main board) and look for a lead trapped behind the panel.
- Listen at the start of a cooling cycle. A fan that spins up and then stops, or one that whines and stalls, is failing mechanically even if it turns by hand.

Both readings are reproduced on this site because both are in the manufacturer's document; which one your panel follows appears to depend on the board and firmware revision. Count carefully how many lights are flashing before ordering a part — the pair readings come with concrete component checks, so they are the more useful place to start when two lights are flashing.
